Design:

Concrete unlike most materials, provides a wealth of design possibilities from the colour and finishes to the shapes and personal touches.

Interesting materials that we like to use in combination with concrete are stainless steel, glass, wood and other natural materials.

At this point we usually require a site visit to enable measurements to be taken and a template is created and taken away. Once the template is created the mould can be made.

Moulding:

Each project requires careful consideration to achieve the design of the mould for release angles and strength. It can be created from wood, fibreglass or metal.

Reinforcement:

We use locally sourced organic hemp fibres in place of traditional synthetic polypropylene fibres made from plastic polymers. The countertop is further reinforced through the proper placement of salvaged rebar.

The Mix:

Our high-peroformance concrete is an advanced mix formula that incorporates a post-industrial waste product. By using recycled material and recycled glass to minimize aggregate requirements,  we have greatly reduced both the CO2 emmissions and landfill waste associated with countertop production.

Grinding and Polishing:

We acheive the desired look through a wet polishing process. This process is what allows us to create a smooth finish.

Surface sealing and care for your countertop:

We use water-based sealer and a polish made from local beeswax. The sealer enhances the natural beauty of concrete and is safe for food production area. The wax needs to be reapplied every 4-6 months depending on use and  we will include a year supply of wax for you. Concrete countertops may stain with some agents such as red wine, lemon juice and olive oil. Aim to clean spills as soon as possible with soap and water. With timely care and maintenance your concrete countertop will remain in excellent condition for many years.

Delivery and Fitting:

Once completed we will deliver and install your product.

Project Duration:

The average project will take 4-6 weeks depending on the size and complexity. As with any business we have a maximum number of projects we can handle at one time in order to ensure that our clients receive the service they deserve. Due to this we must operate on a first come first served basis.

Cost:

The cost will depend greatly on the size and complexity of the project, ranging from $75 to $120/square foot. When you consider what you will pay for a mass-produced countertop, which often contain volatile organic compounds, we believe that you will recognize the value in our custom concrete counterops. We would be happy to provide you with a free estimate on your project.
